Cognac Country House

Our sunny, south facing, stonebuilt Charente holiday home, with walled garden and barn is in a tiny tranquil hamlet 15 minutes away from Cognac and the  Charente river.  Stretching for miles around are vineyards that supply the wine for the Cognac distilleries. The Charente Maritime beaches are  just over an hour away at Royan.

Our Cognac country house is situated  on the border of the departments Charente and Charente Maritime; ideally located for exploring these two regions. Charente Maritime with it's coastline of beaches and estuaries and the vineyards, ancient towns and historic sites of Charente. Both sharing what has been described as the most beautiful river in France; the Charente. Have a look at our gallery for some of the places that are within striking distance.

The region is steeped in history and every little village seems to have an 11th or 12th century church. There are plenty of chateaux, fortified manors, Roman and other historic sites to visit. But if all you want to do is unwind, relax with a glass of local wine and take the occasional stroll through the vineyards then this rental near Cognac could be the place for you.

 

The nearest attraction is Cognac itself with a multitude of things to do; boat trips on the Charente, museums, distillery tours, film festivals and its world famous Blues festival. Other towns drenched in history, within an easy drive, are Saintes, St Jean D'angely and Angouleme.
